Welcome back!!

Welcome back Jets!! Jetsetters after school program will begin on Tuesday 9/7/10. If you're interested in participating in one of our many after school programs including tutoring, hands on learning, credit recovery and elective classes please stop by Portable 703 for an application. We look forward to A GREAT YEAR!!

Here are some classes we offer for Credit:

Cyber High
Cyber High is a comprehensive electronic high school that is available to any student with Internet access. The Cyber High curriculum is aligned with the Content Standards and Frameworks of California. Jetsetters is offering Cyber for free to students who stay after school and want to take on-line classes.

Diaz Dance
Diaz Dance incorporates modern, jazz, and hip-hop dance styles. Students receive elective credits for their participation.

Flip The Script
This class teaches students the art of video & film production using Flip Cameras. Students are required to choose and research a topic and then create a short film or video on that issue. Students will learn how to operate a Flip camera and edit videos using today’s state of the art equipment. Classes offered 2 days a week in Room 407.

The Art of Community
This class will focus on various visual art projects that create positive outcomes in our community. Students will learn how to identify community-based issues and create art projects around those issues. Students learn how to blend colors, mix paint, and work in teams. Students will receive elective credits for full participation.


Other Fun classes:

Passion For Fashion
Passion for Fashion gives students the opportunity to design, create and model clothes. Students choose different eras and are responsible for two Fashion Shows. (Think Project Runway)

Photojournalism
This class focuses on the art of digital photography and editing. Students will learn how to take quality pictures and edit them using today’s latest software. The Photojournalism class will also be responsible for newsletters and updating & maintaining the JetSetters blog.


Culanary Academy
The JetSetters Culinary Academy is a class of 12 students who meet once a week in portable 703 to cook meals from around the world. The students identify and research different countries then choose local foods to cook from that country. They learn about the history of the country, the people, and about the food they will cook.

“Cut it out” Cosmotology/Barber Shop

Two days a week students will learn how to style and cut hair. After each student learns the basics of cutting and styling hair they will be given a written and physical exam. All students’ who pass the exams will be eligible to go to the Middle and Elementary Schools and give haircuts to students for community service hours.

S.W.A.G (Sophomores Wanting Academic Growith)
All 10th graders are encouraged to attend a study hall one day a week (TBD) in the cafeteria. A JetSetters instructor will supervise the study hall. Students will show up right after school 3:05pm, sign in, get snack and study/do homework. Students who come to SWAG will receive points. The students with the most points/attendance will receive a grand prize at the end of the semester. The study hall will go until 4:15pm.

The Center
The Media Center is open Monday – Thursday from 3:05-5pm for homework support and computer use. Students can come to do homework, study, work on power point presentations, check e-mails and ask questions.

G.L.O.W (Girls Leading oursleves to womanhood)
GLOW’s mission is to empower our young women to take responsibility for their actions and behavior, give them skills and tools to overcome obstacles, and inspire them to be positive active members of the school community and learning environment.
